Overview
Tina Berning & Michelangelo Di Battista blur the boundaries between photography, drawing, painting and even art handicraft. Ignoring the computer's possibilities for manipulation, they combine their fields of work anachronistically in an analogue way: Michelangelo Di Battista's photographic works are complemented by Tina Berning's applications, comments, and paintings. The two artists met for the first time on the occasion of a photo shoot for Italian »Vogue« in the summer of 2007. They started working together and quickly realized the great potential of their creative collaboration.
The breathtaking portraits stand out through their contemporary beauty and personality. All of them were photographed by Michelangelo Di Battista. These partly large-sized photographic prints were then analyzed and artistically extended by Tina Berning. This approach goes much further than simply valuing a portrait of a woman in a photograph. It is rather an examination of contemporary feminine beauty. By merging multiple disciplines, the superficial masquerade is being destroyed and the portrayed women are thus given a new level of complexity. The drawings of Tina Berning engage with the photographs and let the images become complex blueprints of the essence of the portrayed.
The works by Tina Berning & Michelangelo Di Battista are part of numerous prestigious, international art collections and museums and are exhibited worldwide in exhibitions and on art fairs.
