In celebration of the European Month of Photography 2025 (EMOP), Jaeger Art is excited to present contemporary, multidisciplinary artist Evelyn Bencicova.
Evelyn Bencicova (*1992) is a contemporary, multidisciplinary artist whose work spans the intersection of photography, video, and virtual reality. With visual precision, her pieces address central themes such as identity, memory, and the complex interplay between the individual and society.
Through her unique visual language and the predominant use of cool tones, she creates an atmosphere of coldness and isolation. This aesthetic lends her works a consciously staged, almost surreal effect, powerfully emphasizing themes of artificiality and distance.
In her 2016 series Asymptote, which is being shown in Germany for the first time, Bencicova explores the alienation of the individual in a world of surveillance and control. She examines the architecture of the communist era and its connection to the ideology of the regime. Asymptote is a profound reflection on the uniformity of modern society and the yearning for individuality.
In dialogue with Asymptote, Bencicova’s institutional exhibition Immersion at Reinbeckhallen delves deeper into her oeuvre, exploring the tension between individual identity and collective systems.
